Hamilton AD surprise: Questions on the Hamilton Khaki Chrono #383017 around year '91
I went into a local jeweler to look at some watches and found out they are an authorized Hamilton dealer. It appears they don't have a lot of turn over with their inventory as I saw some Hamilton models that I had not seen before. One chrono stuck my eye. White face with black numbers, automatic, model #383017. I called up Hamilton and found out the following about the watch:1. Built in the USA2. Model available 1991-19983. Last known retail price in 1998 was $497.504. Automatic movementThe person at the jeweler that deals with watches was not there, but I'm really interested in that watch. It shows a retail price on it of $595, which according to Hamilton is not entirely accurate...or so it would appear. However, it seems with inflation, the list price at $595 would be way low if the watch is in original working order.My questions are as follows:1. Mixed results with AP Service
Well, I went to pick up my 15300 at the NYC boutique today. While I had been very happy with the fact that AP had agreed to service/pressure test my watch under warranty (which technically had expired a few weeks before i brought the watch to them) I was a little nervous about all the horror stories i had been hearing about AP service.Lo and behold, I went to pick up my watch and found a prominent scratch (albeit not very deep) right on the bezel. Obviously, I was very unhappy about this. To their credit the boutique staff took the watch back without question and will be sending it back to clearwater to be refinished/polished. They also made a point of telling me that the turnaround shouldnt be more than a week. So...am i disappointed? sure. AP should have much stricter quality control. Who exactly is handling our watches and how are there so many stories like this floating around? On the flip side i have to commend them that there were no accusations that I dinged the watch myself, or

The Omega Planet Ocean ref 2201.50 arrived today and I picked it up at the local post office.It is a gorgeous watch, better in person than my photos.... dial is really easy to read. Came with the inner and outer boxes, purchase receipt from the original owner. The three cards (Int'l warranty, chronometer cert and Pictograms) came with the watch undated, purchaser name unmarked, but stamped by the AD.Here are photos of them. Please excuse the white balance!
