Longines Longines 49004 wrist watches news:
In case anyone else has missed this info:The Crown MethodAnother method for discerning a 3185 with the 3186 movement is through the the Crown Rotation Method. This method is another way to discern the type of movement without having to remove the caseback. Because the calendar and hour-hand setting mechanism was redesigned in the 3186 movement, the number of turns of the crown to turn the 12 hour hand is different on a 3186 than it is on a 3185. To perform this test, unscrew the crown such that the crown is in the hand setting position. With the crown face-up, count how many hours the hour-hand travels with one full revolution of the winding crown.3185: one complete crown revolution makes the hour hand jumps 6 timezones/hours 3186: one complete crown revolution equals 8-9 timezones/hours from minus4plus6
I have a Longines automatic, that I'm having a bit of trouble identifying. I think it might be a 1964 Model 2205, however, when I've seen a picture and description of the 2205 everything matches except the height of the 6 o'clock bar which is full height on the watch I have and only half height on the picture I've found that says it is a 2205. The face looks like an Admiral 1200, except the 1200 was a gold case and this watch is stamped on the case 10K GOLD FILLED S&W, the S&W are in a box. I has bar markers all around 3 at 12, 2 at 3,6 and 9, singles for the rest. It is a single step sweep second hand above the 6 o'clock marker. Like many watches it has a Speidel bracelet which probably replaced a leather or cloth strap. (or maybe that was the $100.00 optional strap!) In case your wondering it's working better every day and it seems it's accuracy is getting better after sitting unused for perhaps 30 to 40 years!
ok, i had enough of all these amazing pictures from you guys, and just had to see what all the fuss was about as i had never handled an AP before. went to a local boutique and got to play with the following models.....all i can say is WOW!, AP makes a fine watch. each was really special and each felt like an event when i tried it on. fun trip!
Does anyone know how many the Snoopy was limited to?I am really looking at getting my first Omega and have narrowed itdown to one of these.I am buying them to wear now to hide in a safe although I will likely keepthe bands new and wear it on leather or even a Nato.....
Just received the estimate from Omega CH, to repair and service my Omega manual wind Ref: steel 2451 Cal: 27'''.They tell me that the watch needs a full maintenance service. That the movmt shows signs of dampnessThe case has coroded a littleThe luminous material has grown pale..?The dial is stained..etc etc etcPrice to perform maintenace service 925CHF, Parts 60CHFNot bad for a watch that was made in 1947.
