Forging The Magrette Regattare Carbon Watch
When you think of the watches coming from New Zealand-based Magrette, you might be tempted to write them off as "seen one, seen them all." While it is true that they follow a particular design style, there are some interesting variations across the lineup (not to mention the heavily-engraved series). Their latest, the Magrette Regattare Carbon, definitely ups the ante for the brand.As you might surmise from the name of the watch, carbon fiber makes its debut here for the brand. Rather than just slapping a CF dial on the watch and calling it a day, Magrette has gone?in a much more interesting direction: they created a 44mm forged carbon case (yes, just like Linde Werdelin?and Audemars Piguet). Kids Giveaway pt.2
I have 3 of the 4 watches back and all in working order. I bought a new strap for one. The Timex is waiting for a part and is "supposed" to be done by the end of this week.I'd like to stick with the original plan of having the interested parties (kids) write a few sentences of why they want a watch, like watches, and if they might like to collect watches someday. Parents: make sure it's in their own words not yours . And please don't write about a specific watch in the contest because you might make me feel guilty if someone else won the one you wanted.My sons will be "judging" the requests. We will use PM for you to provide your answers. I'll let my boys decide 1st through 4the place.I will notify you IF you are selected and what place you earned to pick. Patek Exhibition
Had a private breakfast at the Patek exhibition this am. Thierry Stern as well as the president of Patek USA spoke to our group. Got a picture with Thierry and spent a few moments talking about the relative size of the watches. He agreed that the 42mm size is a great size and they won't o larger.I'll post as many pics as I can over the next day or so. It was nice to be able to go in and enjoy the tour prior to them opening the exhibition to the public. Highly recommend it if you have the opportunity.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

SD43 in Switzerland
Good afternoon.I am unsure where to post this, so I shall post it here and apologise in advance if it¡¯s either in the wrong section or deemed inappropriate.One of my best friends (UK guy currently based in Switzerland) has just taken delivery of a SD43 and isn¡¯t all that impressed with it (he is obviously a Philistine).He is subsequently looking to sell it; I can vouch for him and will happily act as a conduit for anyone wishing to make contact with him.I have obviously told him to join TRF too.Colin.
