Ever since I read about the Elgin Durabalance, and the 6/0 Durabalance automatics, I've been fascinated with them. I bought 6 watches - only three in working order - and an additional 2 movements for parts (I'll have 4 professionally serviced, working watches once the last one comes in).I scrounged up all the information I could, including buying THREE copies of the 1958 Elgin service manual to get a complete set of the updates (I have a spare, if anyone's interested). But the 'exploded view' in the manual didn't explain to me how the whole thing fits together. So last month, when I was able to buy a whole 761 movement for $7 on Ebay, and having by now taken apart probably 20 watches (and put 6 or so back together), I decided to tear it down and see how it all fits together.The intended victim. Do the new ceramic Daytonas make noises?
Happened to get a chance to try on a WG Daytona with OF and loved the weight. However when I shook it close to my ear I could hear some movement noises like somethin moving in circles (probably the rotor) and I could hear the seconds ticking beautifully. Unlike the submariner I barely hear anything unless I really listen hard in a quiet environment Is the 4130 movement suppose to exhibit such behaviour?
