One of the worst disasters in over 140 years, largest Quake & a huge following Tsunami...I was up late last night and have the NOAA weather alert system on my PC, I was looking Yahoo JP auctions over and saw the alert of the 8.9 huge quake right when it hit @ approx. 2:46pm GMT, and I stayed up till around 5am this morning our time EST. I also watched actual real time film of the Tsunami measuring up to 10 meters high or approx. 35 foot walls of waves moving at over 10 meters per second hit many areas of low lying ground and ports both commercial & residential areas & city harbors in various parts of Japan, with untold damage & mass loss of life.There's a great deal of destruction that one just can't see or imagine from the video and news photo's, and one hope's that it subsides quickly and that it's not as bad as it looks, but I know inside that it's much worse than it looks, one of the (worst disasters) in Japan's history in over 140 years. So I have been a watch fanatic for a long time. After starting out with a $300 Tissot way back when, working my way up to a Breitling eventually. Let me correct that, my heart goes out to two brands actually: Hublot and Audemars Piguet. Although one has to say that AP has the edge due to its long standing history, the tradition and heritage. Plus the quality is just astounding. 233 being discontinued?
Has anyone heard this? Tourneau told me this, but maybe they were just trying to make a sell. I've been kicking around the idea of trading/selling my 312 to help fund a 233. Would you guys get the older dot dial or go for a newer 233? I'm trying to justify the additional funds for domed crystal, GMT, power reserve, and manual wind. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
