The 21st century ¡°Frogman¡± by Hamilton is made of titanium and is water resistant to a depth of 200 meters, 150 meters deeper than its 1940s predecessors. Thanks to a special coating, the titanium achieves a resistance equal to that of steel (600 Vickers). The coating also deters scratching and fingerprints. A screw-down crown protector on the 40 mm case confirms its determination to keep out the enemy ¨C water. ¡°Frogman¡± has a sapphire glass and a Swiss ETA 2895.2 automatic movement, which is partially visible through a window at the rear of the case.

New Boulton with wrist shot, sort of?
I have been lazy and using my point and shoot and all my other watches seem to let me get buy with it. For some reason this Boulton just does not. I guess I am going to have to break out the SLR but not until this weekend.Here is what I think of the watch. Fit and finish is excellent and you can not even feel it on your wrist. In that area, I am just a little disappointed. It is extremely lite (it is a quartz) but much liter than other quartz I have relatively the same size. Makes you feel like they went thin on the metal.If you like the style of watches out of the 40's you will love this! I keep glancing down at my wrist and smile as it has the look of the watches my father wore when I was growing up. In fact although I find manuals worrisome (having to wind) I believe if I could have opted for this watch as a manual, I would have done that just to have it more like the watch from it's era.4.5 stars out of 5. Female watch makers?
Female watch makers?The other day someone asked me about female watch creators or watch makers.I was somewhat out of my depth and had to admit that I know not even a hand-full of female watch creators.The most inspiring is Mrs. Saskia Maaike Bouvier from Geneva. To my knowledge she is the only female watch creator focusing not on design only but being an accomplished watch maker taking equal care of the mechanical side of her watches.This year Mrs. Bouvier shall show her watches at Baselworld at the booth of the AHCI, the acad¨¦mie horlog¨¨re des cr¨¦ateurs ind¨¦pendants (Academy of Horology of the Independent Watch Creators). She is currently a candidate to become a full-fledged member of the AHCI. The members of the AHCI are ones being at the avant-garde of horology and their booth is one of the few fixed points of abode I have at Baselworld.I am particularly curious to take a closer look at Mrs. Bouvier¡¯s latest creation The Eight Moon or in French huit lunes.
