My Dad's New Orbita Sparta"Gevril" Special
Hello Folks,I just purchased a wonderful new Orbita Sparta (I THINK that's the correct model line!) 2-head winder from Kevin @ Orbita. As usual, his high level of service showed through. His shipping tracking email said the winder would be here tomorrow (Friday), but it arrived 1 day early! The winder is equipped with the Lithium power supply, providing a guaranteed minimum of 5 years of life, which is fantastic. Heck, I've had whole winders that never made it past 1 year before, nevermind their power supply! This, in my opinion, is another positive reminder of Orbita's commitment to build winders for the VERY long term. My Dad was impressed at the craftsmanship (and he is a hard man to please ). He really likes the viewing window, and has no need for a base drawer. This model of winder is a "swing" type, as opposed to a rotating type (like my Orbita Monaco 6). That caught me a little off-guard, but makes complete sense when viewed relative to the power source of this winder.

I wanted to start a thread that was watch-related, educational, and entertaining. I'd just found out this morning that I'm nearly at 500 posts. I also just found out, reaching that number will give me the distinction and honor of becoming a WTF Veteran. A HOG in HAWAII
I've finally arrived in Maui. A beautiful magic carpet ride on a Boeing 767 wide body. Man that was sweet. I've come to take lots of pics, although I left my good cameras at home - not enough room for that stuff. I am on the look for a new watch and for some new straps for existing watches.I pulled in to my old watchmaker guy here and he has already sold me on my next watch - A diamond Rolex Date/Just. It has just enough bling. I've always liked this model, and I don't know how I would top it for the money. The price includes a full service and regulation back to COSC specs. Paul Newman Speedy
I finally gave my Speedy a Paul Newman / panda conversion. I replaced the black dial with a silver dial (with black subdials); the white with silver hour minute hands; and the white with an orange sweeper (thought about doing a black sweeper, but I think the orange really pops); I left the white subdial hands the same.
