I Finished Several Elgins This Week
Hey guys !I finished several Elgins this week so I thought that I'd share my results.The first one is my favorite of the bunch!1914 Elgin Trench Watch, big size 0s with 15 jewels, somewhat rare and HUMONGOUS 10k gold filled Fahy's "Montauk" trench case, the case measures 41mm by 33mm ! ! ! This is VERY BIG and heavy for a trench watch case with this design, original enamel Elgin military dial, original hands, original crown.1908 Elgin Transition Cushion Case, big size 0s with 7 jewels, nickel Star Watch Case Company cushion case with cross hatch design, Roman enamel dial with Moon hands.1923 Elgin Military Wrist Watch, size 3/0s with 7 jewels, Sterling Silver Crescent Watch Case Company cushion case that still has the sterling silver original factory crown, original enamel Elgin military dial with the larger font style, restored original Elgin military hands.1917 Elgin Trench Watch, size 3/0s with 7 jewels, 14k gold filled Star Watch Case Company trench case, refinished original dial t

Unknown Identity
I have a large pocket watch that is of Swiss manufacture and is 80mm in diameter and weighs 12.8 oz. It has no names on it other than Switzerland and a mark that may indicate who made it, but I can't find any references to the mark. Note the photo with the red arrow pointing to the mark. Universal Tri-Compax
A few of you were kind enough to express an interest regarding a recent purchase of a Universal Geneve Tri-Compax, so I will take the liberty of boring you with details. Most of the info is from Pietro Giuliano Sala's recent book on the subject. The Tri-Compax is a wristwatch with three complications - chronograph, complete calendar and moonphase - hence the name. It is a common and widely held misconception that Tri-Compax refers to the three dial layout on many chronographs. The irony of course is that the real Tri-Compax has four subdials. For UG, a three dial chronograph, because it only had the chronograph complication, was simply a 'Compax.'The Tri-Compax was UG's most complicated chronograph and flagship model, introduced at the Basel watch fair in 1944 for the company's 50th anniversary. It remained so into the 1970s, when UG hit rocky times as did every other manufacture with the advent of quartz. An additional short run was produced in the mid 1980s with leftover ebauches. I

I'm sure some of you know how much I've been lusting over a RG AP - it has been for quite some time now. I found this forum back in 2012 when I was looking for pictures of a DDII online - there was a link to a picture here and realized I needed to become a member. I found our members very helpful, knowledgable and very ready to enable. Then I started looking at the Other (non-Rolex) section and the AP link was 1st up. I was immediately enamored with the brand and look and took a trip to an AD - everything changed from there.1st up was a 15400 - the bracelet and the dial were truly spectacular. 2nd - ROO Panda - IMO, the white, red and black combo was perfect.And for my 3rd... through much enabling and many thanks to Texex91, AK797, APRolex and many others, my wife initiated everything and the rest is history. I came home Friday after work to find this baby waiting for me...Thanks for the advice & pictures

For the wife, what would you do?
So for Christmas, I am giving her either a BNIB SD43 just got today or a stickered Black Ceramic Daytona I’ve worn for a few hours.I already bought both. Not sure which one to give her, the honest truth is, not sure which one I want to keep! She doesn’t know I have either.She doesn’t share her watches so whatever I give her I will never have an opportunity to wear. She currently wears Panerai so she really likes the bigger face watches.
