Certina DS 1 Chrono Automatique Watch
Last year Basel saw the Certina DS 1 release to a lot of happy watch lovers. It was a entry level priced handsome watch with the build quality and parts that the Swatch Group is able to provide (usually pretty good). Quality is a bit up from Hamilton, another Swatch Group brand. The standard DS 1 watch has an ETA 2824-2 movement, while this new chronograph version will have a Valjoux 7750. This might be one of the best priced watches to be available with the highly desirable work-horse automatic chronograph movement.Still with the Tag Heuer Carrera look, the Certina DS 1 Chrono Automatique (Automatic if you aren't in Europe!) takes everything I love about the Valjoux 7750 movement and emphasizes on its sober tool-like demeanor. Help me find a Hamilton king scuba
Hey everyone. I posted this in the hamilton forum as well but figured I'd get more viewers here. I stumbled across the "Hamilton Khaki Scuba King H64515337" online and was smitten.. It's got the ETA 2834, sapphire crystal. screw down crown.. alot of features for the $. I love the rubber strap w/ red stitching. Resembles a Serket I've always liked but couldnt afford. I've seen them online for about $500, but a few forum members mentioned that they got them for "a little over $300" in the archives. Does anyone have any leads on such a deal? I told myself only one AP, and I love the steel version that I bought a month ago. It's classy and almost reserved for a ROO.I was talking to my AD, and last week or so, started looking at the other pieces they had.1) The Diver: What a beautiful watch in person. The pictures of it never spoke to me, but in person, the watch is beautiful. The finishing is beautiful and I was smitten by how nice it looked. Especially in a black dial.2) The Bumblebee: Again, a very impressive watch in person. But alas...I couldn't get away from this one.I figure my collection needed one black timepiece, and this checked all the boxes. There are so many layers of black and different textures on this piece that I found myself mesmerized by it. I know everyone says it, but all the carbon APs have to be seen and worn in person to truly appreciate.Thank you to the CARBON ENABLERS here at TRF, hope you are proud to see the results of your efforts.Golden rule: Never go to your AD with an open mind LOL.
