While talking to my AD on some of the new prices, he told me he just got 2 new GMT II's. Yes, GMT II's, not IIc's.. One black & red & one blue & red. He was surprised.. Apparently somewhere someone in Rolex found a few more.. Amazing isn't it??Anyone looking for a new GMT II??

Globe Etching
Hi all.A friend of mine is interested in my Planet Ocean and he mentioned that it didn't have an etching of a globe on it so the watch is 5+ years old (even though it has 2 years left on the 3 year warranty from an AD).Anybody know anything about an etching of a globe on Omega watches? Cheers

The Return Of The Son Of Themes: Elgin Automatic Watches
I decided to take a little hiatus in the 'Themes' thing over Christmas. Partly, I had built up a bunch of newly acquired and/or repaired watches that I was dying to wear, and partly because I could. But I thought I'd start up again with one of the things that makes Elgin unique among American watchmakers - US-designed and -built self-winding watches. Bulova did build some of their '23' series of automatics in the US, but my understanding is that they were kind of a joint Swiss/American project. So, let's start with today's watch: the 1951 Elgin 607 "Bumper" automatic!This YGF case, and the two-tone dial, are probably the ones most associated with the Bumpers, but they also came in solid 14k and stainless.The movement (Shamelessly stolen from Joel (441victor) - I haven't opened mine up since it's a screwoff and I don't have the tools)There was nothing novel about the technology by this time, but it was the very first American-made self-winding wristwatch! Advice on pricing used 14790ST
All, I would like to ask your assistance in pricing a watch I am helping my employer sell. The watch has been worn and used. Unfortunately the box, papers, manual have been discarded. I did have him pay for a certificate of authenticity from the AP Boutique on 57th St in Manhattan / NYC.The model number is 14790ST.OO.0789ST.09, E-series - Caliber 2225 36 Jewels, and described as Dark Blue Big TAP. AP 10 Index Dial, stainless steel case and bracelet with 11 links at 12h and 7 links at 6h - and no spare links, appears to be sized for 6.5 wrist.He has the travel case (or is it AP service case?) and the certificate of authenticity as well as the receipts from AP for the watch with serials for both the watch case and the movement noted. The watch has not been repolished, runs and keeps time properly, winds without issue. I don't know if it has been serviced or not so I'd guess not. I'm told he acquired the piece in the early 2000's.What would be a fair asking price for it? He believe
