Congrats to Derique Y. from Singapore who is the lucky winner of the Wryst Airborne FW3 limited edition watch that we gave-away last month. We are sure that he will enjoy it. It's always fun to find a brand you've never heard of, though for us, it happens less and less these days. So, when I stumbled upon Ancon watches a few weeks ago, I was extremely excited. A quick glance revealed over-sized, over-built tool watches with looks akin to war machines, not your average desk diver. A deeper inspection revealed that the watches were a mix of familiar elements, well-tuned colors and interesting detailing that when combined created watches that were simultaneously charming and fierce. Like an antique weapon, there is something sculptural and entrancing about them, but underneath, the aggressive intentions are still apparent. The inspiration for the watches is the USS Ancon AGC-4, which was a modified commercial passenger-cargo ship meant for carrying troops that saw a lot of use in WWII. The watches themselves, of which there are 3 distinct models and many variations currently available, are a strange mix of huge modern cases with classic dials. Those who are fam
My Sub is a year old now and from an AD. I wanted to check it's accuracy while it was still on warranty. What is the procedure? On the wrist? Off the Wrist? In what postion? should I check multiple positions? ETC....?Is it best to use a digital stop watch on say my Citizen Skyhawk AT or Omega X-33? Or should I just use the regular time function on the Citizen (I wouldnt think so in case it updates it's time by a second or too with it's AT function). Thanks Guys! (and Gals )
Nothing in the Omega lineup has the appeal of this 95 year old cal. 26.5 beauty:Or this 64 year old cal. 332 bumper automatic:More recently, we have the predecessor of the co-axial AT, the Seamaster 120m from 1998:with its reliable pre-coaxial Omega 1120 (ETA 2892-A2) movement and a case only 8mm thick. After 16 years and one servicing, it remains the most accurate watch in my collection. (Yes, the dial is misprinted with Speedmaster - one of five known examples.)
Just looking for some views from everyone on my next pick up. Long story short the Day Date has always been my grail watch and finally it¡¯s time to jump on one. Originally I was totally sold on the Pink gold, Green dial 60th Anniversary Day Date but having recently tried on a different Rose gold Day Date I realised that the rose just isn¡¯t for me and my skin tone sadly. So now it¡¯s yellow gold for me with the gold face, for me the classic Day Date I remembered from my childhood. So it¡¯s a 228238 for certain... I was totally set on the numerals as I love how they fill up the dial but I¡¯ve been offered a great deal on a 228238 with the diamond baton markers. Thoughts please as I really need a few other opinions on this one.
