Omega 123.20.38.21.13.001 wrist watches news:
The other day I was watching 2001: A Space Odyssey (for the 10th time in a month!) and decided to watch the extra features. In the documentary about the making of the picture Arthur C. Clarke, the author of the novel 2001: A Space Odyssey, is interviewed on numerous occasions and in one interview I noticed he was wearing a 16618. I photographed the image on my TV. I wonder if he was a collector or if that was his choice for his one and only watch?JB
I put on my Eco-Drive Calibre 3100 yesterday only to notice that it had stopped running earlier in the week. It's only a few months old and should be getting plenty of light (the 5-year-old Eco-Drive that sits right next to it is still running fine). So it looks like I'll be sending it to a Citizen repair facility. Has anyone else done this? And if so how has it gone?
I've got this Seiko Advan on the way. It was an ebay find, bought on a whim because of the vivid blue dial. Apparently made in October 1974, with the 7019 movement. Now here's the kicker...matching blue strap . Not to everyone's taste I'm sure, but I like it! I had the seller fit this for me instead of the non-original SS band, (and he was extremely pleasant and accommodating in doing so - surprising for an Ebay seller in my experience.)
So my Longines Moonphase was sick. I took it off the winder one day and it had stopped there was a screw rolling around in the bottom of the display back. As this is my go-to work watch, I missed it greatly. [Here's a pic. The loose screw isn't visible I didn't take any pics of the damage.]I took it to my AD, who said he would send it to Swatch. But then he remembered I work pretty close to the Swatch Canada offices. He said I'd likely get it taken care of quicker if I took the watch in directly. Boy was he right.I went there on a lunch break. It's nice office space. The waiting room has some leather chairs and a huge window into their workspace. Through it you can see the watchmakers at their high desks in their white lab coats. I pressed the ringer and a man came out to see me. I showed him the loose screw and the warranty card, and he said to grab a chair and wait a few minutes. He went into the back and eventually I saw him pass the watch in to a watchmaker behind the
