Anybody attending the "Inside Basel-Geneva" event in Chicago this Wed (9/29/10)?
Watchtime magazine is sponsoring the dinner event with about ten companies bringing their new introductions from the shows this year. Pretty good value with dinner at the private Midwest club atop the Aon tower. Plus plenty of swag from the watch companies. Two years ago I went home with two grocery bags of gifts. Jeff Kingston has a powerpoint presentation of the highlights of the two watch shows and the latest trends. Charles Tearle from antiques road show will also be presenting. I will be traveling to Chicago for the event. Anybody else?Cheers !

I was defenseless. There was nothing I could do, no way to resist the beautiful bracelet, the polished surfaces playing with the brushed. The amazing dial changing shades. Resistance was futile. Here is the 5711/1R I purchased today. I promised I was not buying anything today and failed. I am now a happy member of the club.

Traveling with multiple watches?
While I appreciate the advice (and have given it) to just take one and wear it, there are times I travel with multiple watches. Despite people saying a Sub ��dresses up,�� I disagree. I may want to bring a play at the beach and pool watch, along with a dress up for dinner watch, or perhaps just enjoy variety on a longer trip.For those who travel with multiples, I��m interested in what you do with the one or more you��re not wearing.Leave zipped up in a suitcase or travel bag?Squirrel away under clothes in a dresser drawer?Stick in room safe?Give to front desk for safekeeping in a hotel safe?Something else I haven��t considered?All my watches are insured, but it would still be a bummer to lose one, have to file police report, etc. I have done versions of all the above, but wonder if there��s consensus with others.
