Could use some input
Hi allI am contemplating purchasing a Breitling for my hubby. He already has some nice watches, but he usually leaves them at home when we travel and puts on his seiko. I thought a Breitling would be a nice masculine durable watch that he would be able to use for travel, swim, and knocking around. He usually wears a Rolex submariner at home. I was thinking of the Navitimer with a black face and steel band. I really don't know if this is a good choice in the Breitling brand, and would appreciate any suggestions. Is there one model that is king to all the rest? Is there one that people like better or that is better value? I am sort of going into this blind and could use all the help I can get. It's for our 25th wedding anniversary and I'd like it to be special.

Thanks to anyone that can help. I have a 14K gold Hamilton wristwatch. I opened it up to see what the movement says. I found it is 19J (see my photos below) and some #'s 2912909 and below that is 379-F. I don't know anything about it. Is it a Dorsey? or what?

New Member (long time lurker)....I know that you shouldn't have a rant as a first post. But, I know that you guys will feel my pain. I manage a jewelry store in the Reno Nv, area. I hand delivered some repairs to the main store and found a nice little auto movement sitting on the bosses desk. Of course, I had to check it out. 48 jeweled Universal Geneve Microtor. It didn't take much work to find that it came out of an 18 kt yellow gold, late 50's early 60's polerouter. Some lady turned it in for scrap gold. She got $15.00 a gram for it (around $300.00). AND THAT JACK DONKEY MELTED IT.How do you melt something like that?????

Is it possible to get a discount on a blnr?
So I have decided now to go for a gmt blnr. The question is what should I do in terms of buying it? This time I have chosen to go with an AD but I just can't seem to get any discount even though I'm offering cash. The only way I can theoretically get a discount is by going over the bridge to New Jersey to avoid the 6% tax. is there any chance an ad from a different state would discount and ship? How would I find them? Even at that point though I would lose the tax advantage. I really have no interest at all buying from the grey market, I had a bad first time experience with a preowned and that has given me the mindset that this next watch needs to be from an AD. Has anyone had a recent experience buying a blnr? Thanks.
