Omega Omega 10643 wrist watches news:
Since we have quite a few members (new and veteran) that are taking an interest in vintage I thought I'd try to share the path I've taken to get where my Omega collection is today from when I first joined WTF. I can't illustrate it before then because..... well, frankly I didn't bother with pictures before forum life and I didn't own many Omegas anyway. When I found WTF I had only one modern Omega - a 2504.80 Aqua Terra mid-size:It lasted over 2 years in my collection, but because I could never get the bracelet to fit comfortably I finally broke down and sold it. Gorgeous watch though, and if it had micro adjustments on the clasp I would still own it. That's the whole story for newer Omegas. On to the vintage! My first few watches were what most would consider 'starter pieces'. Here's an early 60's Seamaster De Ville with a manual wind caliber 611:A very nice watch that went to a forum member, and was recently replaced with a much less common version to be seen later on in this
The Colman Clock is one of the more interesting things we ran across in Seattle before embarking on our Alaskan cruise. It was made by the E. Howard Clock Co. of Boston and was installed in 1908 in a tower at the end of Colman Dock. In 1912, a steamship hit the dock and the tower fell onto the ship and then into the water. After repair, the clock was installed in a new tower where it remained until the tower was replaced in 1936 by a new building. The clock was taken away and not rediscovered until it was found in 1976 in a warehouse. It was in pieces and rusted. In 1984, the Port of Seattle bought it and the Puget Sound Chapter of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors was called in for restoration. It is now on exhibit in a glass housing and keeping good time, though now it is automatically wound rather than by hand.
Show off your "Explorer" type watches(they don't have to be Rolexes, just have that cool Expl. vibe!)................please post 'em!Here's my quintet......
Has everyone known about the existence of this watch except me?.omegawatches/index.ph...002&no_cache=1At last I can focus on getting just one more watch, and not wondering which one or if I have made the right choice.I'll open a new savings account as soon as I can get to the bank and start putting away the money now.
