Omega 23230465101001 wrist watches news:
Hey guys!Last week I picked up TWO very special 1918 WWI Elgin Trench Watches. These two styles are the only ones that have been confirmed to have been bought by the United States Army. One case was made by Joseph Fahys and Company (OreSilver case) and the other case was made by the Illinois Watch Case Company (Nickel case). Both are semi-hermetic cases, meaning that they are threaded cases rather than friction. The Joseph Fahys case truly is an absolutely remarkable example as it still has just about ALL of the required black oxidized finish on the case. (16mm lugs)I have NEVER seen one that has the black finish so full in-tact before, almost unbelievable!Different companies had different ways of achieving the the required black finish, Joseph Fahys and the IWCCo did in fact oxidize the black finish while others used black paint.Nobody has tried to open this Fahys case the wrong way over the years by prying it open, the case threading is perfect. It still has the original factory crown as
I was wondering if anybody who knows watch movements can tell me if retrograding seconds cause more wear on the movement itself as compared to a movemet with the more conventional sweeping seconds. Maybe it's not the case, but i'm thinking any mechanism that has to torque a watch hand from a 60 second position backwards to the 1second position would be under a fair bit of stress.I am contemplating buying a watch with retrograding seconds and am worried it might cause issues for me down the road in terms of servicing and reliability. Does anyone have any long term experience with a watch that has retrograd seconds? The watch I am considering is the Breguet 5207:

I was recently on vacation in Maui as part of a work trip. I knew Barron and Leeds on the island carried Patek and since my hotel was 5 minutes away I decided to pay them a visit to look, but had no intention of buying anything. Upon arriving the store was dead and the ladies working were very nice and quick to remove any watch from the case I so much as pointed at. I had always loved the aquanaut and the pushers on the 5164 intrigued me. When I inquired on any aquanauts in the store the woman said they only had the gmt and removed it from a display. I was instantly in love. She let me play with the pushers and try it on. After handing it back to her we chatted more and as I was leaving the store the woman said that they would be more apt to negotiate on the last day of the month, today, than the first. Knowing that I left the store and walked around the shopping center with a friend. My friend, who doesn't care about watches at all, was in love with the 5164 and as we were talking h
