This 4th of July, we¡¯d like to make note of a few exceptional watch brands not only based in the USA, but who also produce things here. As we¡¯ve mentioned before, America was once home to some of the greatest manufacturers in the world. Unfortunately, our golden age in the industry has long since passed, and very few brands remain truly American. These selections ¨C whether they manufacture everything domestically or use mostly foreign parts with just a few elements made in the US, are the cornerstone of the new American watch industry. The driving force behind them is a passion for timekeeping fueled by American ingenuity. I was lucky enough to visit the Patek Philippe factory and managed to get hold of some pictures that were taken during the visit.
What are other reputable sites to search for a watch other than Ebay and the classified on the forum? Im looking for a like new 116505 with a black dial for my wife and want to know where else to look......Thanks in advance.
My sea dweller that I just got from a local Rolex dealer/jeweler appears to be running nearly 15s fast in a day. I synced it exactly with my computer at 10am yesterday, and by 10am today, the time on the computer was changing at 15s mark instead of right on nose at 12. I know a small variance is acceptable, but is this acceptable for a 1999 Sea Dweller?I called and they said no problem to bring it in and they would adjust it, when I went in toady, a different woman, who I didn't speak to the day before said that Rolexs that are older aren't as accurate and that everyone knows this, then some other customer next to me said his loses a minute a day. Don't know what the point of buying such an exacting and expensive instrument is if I need to adjust the time every few days. Am I right to think it needs servicing or adjusting? Regardless, they did take it in and are going to adjust it for me under warranty.
