Omega 321.10.42.50.01.001 wrist watches news:
The Hublot HL08 watch has been issued as a limited series of 88 items. The technical treasures of the remarkable timekeeper are housed in a polished 18K white gold case, which features the dimensions of 43.5 mm x 37 mm. On the dial side it reveals a sapphire crystal with chamfered corners. The watch case is submersible to 30 meters. The watch exposes a black opaline dial. It features an intermediary plate with skeleton segments divided into separate 10-minutes zones, hour and seconds frames. The most striking element of the dial is the jumping-hour disc in tinted semi-opaque mineral glass. It is kept company by a black small seconds disc.
The intersection of politics and popular culture with wristwatches is undeniably fascinating. I mean, that's basically why I have a job. Equally fascinating is the pursuit of these timepieces at the center of this interesection by watch collectors, dealers, and auction houses. There are a handful of documented important wrist and pocket watches out there that the world at large is still looking for. What I mean by that is they have not been publicly sold or located, like say Eric Clapton's platinum 2499, Gandhi's Zenith pocket watch, or Steve McQueen's 5512 Submariner (we won't get into his seemingly never ending supply of Monacos), though we know they exist via a blurry old 35mm photograph, or word of mouth. This is a short list of twelve watches that we know to exist, have serious interest in, but have seemingly gone missing. In THIS THREAD on automatic watches jimH made a point which is important enough that I think it deserves a separate thread:
Been a long time owner of Rolex watches and just finally took the plunge and purchased my first AP. I went with the Royal Oak Offshore Diver. I'm very happy with it so far! It's comfortable and looks amazing on my wrist. Just a quick thank you to this forum which has provided tons of information and advice. I'm looking forward to contributing on my experience.
I was able to try on a ss 5712 at my AD today, and was a bit surprised by the dial color. To me, it looked more like slate grey than the blue I had remembered from trying on a 5711 some time back. On patek's website, both the 5711 and 5712 are listed as black-blue dials, but is it possible they are different? Maybe just the dial layout make the shades appear different? Maybe the lighting in the shop (I've never tried on a 5711 and 5712 in the same location)?
