It was 10 years ago, in 2005, that Jean-Claude Biver revitalized the Hublot brand with the introduction of the now iconic Hublot Big Bang. Citizen Donates $1.3 million to Japanese Disaster Relief
Citizen is donating $1.3 million to the Japanese earthquake and tsunami disaster relief effort. Citizen Watch Company of America, Inc., (COA), encompassing the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, has already donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross, earmarked for the Japanese effort. Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. has announced an additional donation of one hundred million yen ($1.25 million). ¡°Citizen is headquartered in Tokyo, with offices, factories and employees throughout Japan,¡± said Laurence Grunstein, President, Citizen Watch Company of America, Inc. ¡°Our thoughts are with them, along with the millions of other people affected by this terrible disaster.¡±The COA group has selected the American Red Cross as the recipient of their donation because of their ability to act swiftly in communities affected by the tsunami and earthquake in Japan. I popped into the Omega AD and while there I saw this version, LE 1971 pieces, LE box, displayback.It was quite striking but the strap's absence of any gold did not seem quite right.I was aware that the Speedy was available in full gold but had never seen a T/T available.I left promptly after my idiot brain reminded me I had a quality brown alligator strap just sitting there waiting for a donor watch.

MACRO: WG Hallmarks on 116619LB Submariner
As most of you know, I took delivery of my new WG Submariner yesterday and today I decided to take some macro pictures of the hallmarks that Rolex uses on the case for the 18k gold.Each corner has a different mark...my favorite being the scales with the 750 balanced in between. I thought this was interesting and wanted to share. One more wrist shot just for the heck of it!

Most Stunning Dial independent of the watch itself?
What are everyone's thoughts on the most stunning dial on any Rolex independent of the actual watch?If it was just the dial under the crystal without any actual watch attached, my choices would be ice blue; sunburst blue from TT sub; olive sunburst green from dd40.But my top choice would be the d blue. I know to some the watch may be to thick so I am just talking about that gradient dial and green writing. When the light hits it all at once it pops to this amazing burst from blue to black in a high gloss finish. Through the crystal it appears as if you are looking through the lens of a telescope spying an earth like exoplanet in some distant galaxy.The symbolism of shifting the deepsea to below the watch as if you are watching Cameron's ship dive deep below somehow fills me with delight and awe every time the sun pops it.
