Swatch Group Enjoys Rebound in Second Half of 2009
Swatch Group struck a positive tone in its 2009 financial report as results for the second half of the year were much stronger than the first half, when watch sales were down 16.4%. Watch sales finished the year down 5.5% at a constant rate, largely outperforming Swiss Watch Federation export sales figures for the same period. The Group forecasts improved sales and margins in 2010. Swatch Group sees continuing recovery from the sharp economic downturn that began in late 2008, and the group reported increased market share in nearly all price segments for 2009. The report states in part:“The last months of 2009 showed a very positive development, with clear signs of market normalization and increased consumer confidence. To some degree, the economic crisis 2009 has separated the wheat from the chaff. Is this Apple-horology? Glycine is the first luxury watch brand to make an iPhone app, but this execution of the concept is perfect. For those interested in the novelty, or who cannot afford the fine timepiece, they can get the next best thing, which is this clever app for the popular iPhone. The app is available in the Apple App store (not sure about the price or if it free). The best part is that it from Glycine themselves.The application is pretty cool. You can see the front and rear of the watch with a click of the button. The specific watch is the Glycine Airman 17.?? On the rear of the watch you'll see the rotor for the automatic movement that will actually move with the watch (using the built in accelerometer in the iPhone). Functions include everything on the real watch, and a slider is used to set the other timezone (as the main time is likely synced with the phone's clock). Credor (Seiko) GBAY992 Certified Chronometer
I recently acquired a Credor GBAY992 model certified chronomoter. It was very difficult finding any information about this watch on the Internet, so for posterity I thought I would make a post here documenting this unusual and (IMO) beautiful watch.The watch is a hand-wound model with an 18K case and Seiko's 31 jewel 4S79A movement. It comes with a COSC certificate and apparently was made in a limited edition of 500 that were sold back in 1998. My example is in very nice condition and is running about +3 seconds/day which is just fine with me.Here are some pictures.
