Omega Omega 17144 wrist watches news:
totally loving the Glidelock clasp, the Cerachrom bezel, the 44mm case and its infamous thickness, loving the maxi dial, loving the thick domed sapphire chrystal, and the 3135 its been running -1 sec/day for 2 weeks, so, what's not to love in this timepiece???the DEEPSEA is a tru Champ!!!
I just joined up and I'm anxious as all get out to buy my first Omega. It'll be a quartz because I'm an accuracy freak and I like the convenience. Given my price point and the fact that I've got small wrists, I guess I'm headed for the 300M Mid Size Quartz in black. Awesome watch. My question is how I deal with the local AD. I've dealt with this dealer before when I bought my Bedat #7 tank and he was flexible enough to knock about 15% off retail. I buy tons of electronic gear off the Internet but with a high end piece like the Omega, I'm hesitant. I live in Western NY and believe me, these aren't flying off the shelves around here. What should I expect ?? Are they bound by the retail price ?
Here are some pictures that I know you guys will enjoy. The rest of them are here.
I'm curious what all of your paths to owning AP were. Mine were kind of backwards, as I had met a certain gentleman with extreme knowledge of swiss watches, and I am a specialist in another type of craftsmanship, antique Japanese swords and consult on behalf of collectors. We discussed the similarities between the two (differences being obvious, as one was meant to kill, and one was meant to find out how much time you had to kill) and I learned at the time about there existing a whole other world of swiss watches other than Rolex.Anyway this discussion inserted AP into my brain as something I'd have one day if I ever owned a fine timepiece (last item was some watch I found at 10 years old with a highly luminous digital dial... the kind that ... kills you I guess!). I lost it. And I have a Seiko given to me by my staff that went into a drawer of keepsakes and was never worn. Finally bought my ROO this year after finding the forum here and bouncing some questions around. And here I am.How
New incoming this past weekend. I absolutely LOVE this watch. Some don't like the weight/feel of titanium. However, with this watch, it provides so many advantages. The blue dial alone is worth it, not to mention the fact that it just disappears on the wrist. Just fabulous. The adjustable bracelet is also very well executed. I like the Rolex Glidelock a bit better but still a nice design by Omega. With so many black-dialed, steel watches in my collection, it's nice to have this option of a different metal and dial color. My observations on timekeeping are very favorable. Since Friday evening, it's gained only 1.5 seconds. Very nice to see such accuracy. Below is a quick pic from today. Will try to take more later this week.
