TRUE reason for recent price increases??
So, Rolex has increased their prices (like many other watch brands) quite a bit, despite a very strong downturn in the economies of the US & Europe. The 'reasons' range from higher demand (which very few probably believe) to metal prices to currency fluctuations.Well, reading the release of the 2010 COSC certifications yesterday, I saw an interesting trend, and one that 'bucks' what the manufactures and dealers say - global demand is not only strong but growing. Now Rolex does not release actual sales, but the majority of their models are COSC certified, and the percentage of COSC certified models vs. the not has not changes much over the years (the ND Sub is the only exception I think). So COSC certifications are a pretty good indication of sales. This is more my attempt to put my thoughts on paper so that maybe this will help others as they are searching as well. If you think I am missing something please feel free to chime in.
