Panerai 390 wrist watches news:
My 1979 World Time.
After playing with my new arrival, I just got to opening the Lord Elgin that just came back from the watchmaker. He fixed the movement, which wouldn't wind via the crown, serviced and timed it, cleaned the dial and hands, cleaned the inside of the crystal, polished it, polished the case, and restored the brushed finish to the case back. When I got it, the inside the crystal was a bit dirty, as were the hands and dial, plus, it would run, but wouldn't wind. Don't get me wrong, for a 50 year old watch, it was in great shape, but it was clear that a little bit of TLC would do wonders. Before I sent it in, the grime dulled its looks. Now, the markers and hands catch the light and shine and the dial just seems brighter.Needless to say, I'm very happy with the job my guy did. PrePost
I've wanted a Marine Chronometer for quite some time so when Gnomon received a new shipment I thought the time was right. This is the 'smaller' version at 44mm but it still has about the maximum wrist presence I can handle. All the usual statements about a Steinhart apply; good quality, good price, good value. I especially like the highly decorated movement. Here are the specifications and a few pictures.Maker: Steinhart Germany - Swiss MadeMovement: Swiss Unitas 6498 mechanical movement with Geneve stripes and blued screwsDial: White with Roman numbers and markersLuminous: N/ADate: N/ACase: Satin brushed stainless steel. Polished bezel. Crown: Push-in XL crownLug: 22mm Crystal: Domed sapphire crystal with AR coating on the insideStrap: Thick 22mm brown leather strap Water resistance: 30mDimensions: 44mm in diameter, 52mm lug to lug, 14.2mm thickPower Reserve: ~42 hours
Kinda a strange question, but does speedmaster bracelet and seamaster bracelet use the same 20mm spring bars?
Dear All,I have been looking at the retired PP 5134, travel time. I like the look of it, but am not sold on it. There seems to be little information on this reference on the forum. Any thoughts from the sage members here? I gather it not desirable, just not sure why. Is there some problem with the design etc?
