Panerai PAM 0018 wrist watches news:
Here is a Very Special Treat for the New Year...An Odd watch, that is SO Stunning in Real life,it is hard to describe. This is The Illinois "Chevalier"With Black Enamel and PORCELAIN Dial.(1928)(FF) The Chevalier-type watch was made by many manufacturers...Waltham and Elgin issued watches in similar cases as did several Swiss companies. Here is an old "Waltham" ad from Nov. 1928The Watch came in Blue and Black Bezels. The rarity of this particular watch is it's DIAL.There are only 4 known Porcelain Illinois dials. (FF)(This may be the 5th)Dimentions:37X31mmThe slight hairline crack is a welcomed sight (believe it or not) showing that it is in fact, porcelain. When I asked my good buddy about this watch, the first thing he said was"I hope the dial has some hairlines on it!"It Does! This watch case was very susceptible to "Pitting"this one is very clean.FF Notes:Price when new: $25Price today: $350 to $750 (fair to excellent condition)Add $500 for Porcelain DialBlue rarer than Black2/6 Black6
Took 7 days from order to my door from Germany. I am pleased with this purchase. If I had one beef, it is that the bracelet seems too cheap, also friction pins instead of screws. May just have to replace it.
I have a question for u Hamilton collectors. I got a 687 movement so I get a thin I matic case. T575. In stainless case . So I removed the stem put it in case and kinda rattles little bit. And the stem is a hair short. I was wondering if a movement ring would take of that. But even with the movement in the snap back doesn't fully snap back. Not sure if the movement has to sit correctly or I would appreciate any help in this project
Back in May, I decided I wanted a nice dress watch, which then turned into a couple, then of course you know the story. Unfortunately, at first, I just wanted something nice, but as I have learned WTF over the months, there is more to watches than just just a pretty face. Before, it was quantity, but now I'm inclined to automatics and quality and now that is even being refined further. So, not being a flipper, here are my watch mistakes that will remain mistakes. Some of the watches are mistakes because they are quartz, but I actually like several of my quartz watches. Some are mistakes because they were cheap, but that's their only redeeming values and some are mistakes because they have failings.TX Perpetual Calendar. Even though it has four motors, it has four motors : )Swiss Military Hanowa Corporal quartz. One of my first watches. I just has no personality.Timex SL Auto. Chinese movement, horrible dial. Hard to read dials and the year and month need to be changed manually.O
Sent it off for first-ever service under warranty - needed regulation and new hesalite. I debated whether to have the bracelet refinished - but decided to go ahead since it was on their nickel. I sent it off to Seattle Service Center - they apparently work 7 days a week! Their online order tracking system is GREAT! Rolex never tells you what's going on.My last update said mid-July, and I've been really bummed. Just now - 30 minutes after COB at my office, the phone rings and I decided to pick it up. It's Seattle calling, saying it is done. I asked if it was going out 2-3 day ground - she says normally yes, but the boss said this one goes out overnight. I can't wait!!!!
