hi, what's the difference between these two?
Hello, my name is yuval.i received a few watches from my grandfather - 3 of them were record-longines and one which i cant recognize:photo 1.jpgphoto 2.jpgphoto 3.jpgas you can see it has no model and there's nothing at the back. i was told that it is gold.after some googling i found this sucker:RARE SQUARE MODEL Mens 18k Gold Vintage Longines Conquest Automatic Watch which is very similar.could it be that mine is fake, reconstructed (although it was brand new when i got it) or could it be that mine is also a conquest?BTW what's the story behind conquest?THANX!!

Looking for rubber strap opinions on a B-1. Which do you think looks better? Ocean racer with deployant? Diver II with deployant? Polished or brushed finish? I have a black dial B-1 so I would be looking at a black rubber strap. Thanks in advance for your participation. Guy

Rare watches ¡­ rare books ?
The 'rare handcrafts' like enamel, marquetry, engraving ¡­. the ned plus ultra among Patek watches.We know them for their complications and their superb finishingBut not often seen are the 'art' pieces aka 'rare handcrafts'Anyway, this is a book Patek made and afaik they are and were not for sale.But I think they must be very rare, I've seen all kinds of catalogs, big and small, boxes with leaflets, small books for the Nautilus ( 30th anniversary) , little books with 20 or so pages about their in-house chrono movements ¡­..But this ¡­ this was new to me.I had never seen this magnificent book dedicated to the rare handcraftsA pretty big (155 pages) book about enamel, marquetry, engraving ¡­. clocks, watches, pocket watches ¡­To give you an impression , here are some picturesBad pictures I know :-) but at least you can see a few pages LOLLike said, I didn't knew such a book existedblue hard cover , and inside the 'Rare Handcrafts book'

Another Incoming? 5270g!
The benchmark reference from the benchmark watchmaker: a perpetual calendar chronograph from Patek Philippe.I had a hard time deciding between the 5970g and the 5270g. I was lucky enough to handle both at the same time.I tried the 5970g. It looked great but when I handled the 5270g, it looked more legible and it was love at first sight. The day/night indicators on the lower left and the leap year indicator on the lower right made it more legible and cleaner vs. 5970g that¡¯s inside the sub dials, not to mention the tachymeter which made the 5970g busier. Some say the 5270 does not have the Patek DNA but I really don¡¯t agree with this. Check out Eric Clapton¡¯s 2499 and the latest 5270g is exactly like it, without the tachymeter. It looks clean upsized at 41mm which I think is very nice relative to its thickness. Another factor that made me decide to get the 5270g instead of any previous models is because it is in house movement. I have handled a Lemania from the previous generation and I
