Panerai PAM00241 wrist watches news:
It was only a matter of time before the Roger Dubuis Excalibur watch connected itself a bit more with Arthurian legend. For 2013, the high-end Swiss watch brand and movement manufacture will produce a limited edition version of the Excalibur watch called the "Table Ronde." Somehow I feel that given the super Britishness of the concept, they would have forgone the French name and simply called it "The Round Table." As completely silly as this watch is, I still get a kick out of the concept. Like I said, I have been waiting for a more medieval version of the Excalibur for a while and this is not at all what I could have expected.Let's start with what you are probably still looking at, the 12 figurines on the dial. That's right, Roger Dubuis placed 12 solid gold engraved Arthurian knights of The Round Table around the dial at each of the hour markers. The characters are in 18k pink gold and each is slightly different. In illegible "olde" English are written names of the knights on the per
This week, Bring A Loupe covers some iconic vintage pieces, but also some others flying more under the radar. Among the obvious choices, you can find an early Speedmaster, a great Heuer Carrera, and a promising Universal Geneve Polerouter Sub. There are also some watches that you probably expected less, including a quartz-powered Rolex and a Movado Datron relying on the mythical El Primero movement. This is your Bring A Loupe for February 5, 2016. An Omega Speedmaster 'Ed White' Reference 105.003-64, And Why It Matters 1 OF 12 Let's start with the reason behind this Speedy's nickname: the astronaut Ed White actually wore a reference 105.003 during the Gemini IV mission when he became the first American to space-walk, in June 1965. Then, you should definitely look at our Reference Points on the Omega Speedmaster for more info on why this early Speedy is so special. The reference 105.003 was indeed the last of the non "Professional" dials, t
I was just messaging Jim about the arrival of my 7002 and got to thinking about those times when you loose a watch. This came about after a discussion with a colleague at work, who lost a Seiko while windsurfing. Appears he nearly got clobbered by the boom and his natural reaction was to put up his arm to shield himself. The watch copped it, leaving only the remains of his fabric strap around his arm. Or the guy whose delinquent son threw his TAG? off the verandah into adjacent scrub never to be seen again. And then there is allways that watch that just disappeared. Not nice subject matter, but interesting. Breakout people now is your chance to vent.
Hi, Can someone give me some advice on how to remove the crystal on my Wenger Aquagraph Tide watch, model 70832. This watch has a rotating bezel (rotates one direction only) with a mineral crystal. THese are my questions:How does the bezel pop off (with a case knife?) Will some part goes flying out never to be found again? Is the crystal glued in or is it a press fit between the bezel and case with a gasket in between?Any other advice is welcome. By the way, I have a small arbor press to seat the new crystal in place. I may use a sapphire crystal to replace the original mineral. Mike
