Help Identify an Illinois Wrist Watch?
Hi there,We recently purchased this Illinois watch at an antique shop in Toronto and would love to know more about it ¡ª the model name, production history, anything! We've done our best to find this out ourselves, but as absolute newcomers to the world of vintage watches, we've only had limited success. It seems close to a model called the Whippet, but we haven't been able to find an exact match to photos or old ads online. A peak inside the watch tells us it has 17 jewels and the serial number is 5124274. One online serial number look-up told it was likely made in 1929, another told us 1927. We don't have the experience (or the reference books) to solve this mystery alone. After spending some quality time with these superb Seiko Ananta timepieces I’m left with the over-riding feeling that Seiko have been a victim of their own success. Allow me to explain: There are literally thousands of watch brands currently in business around the world. These range from the horological hand crafted master pieces from such luminaries as Messieurs Greubel and Forsey to the throw away market fodder watches from which you’ll get change from a fiver. Royal Oak as your only AP?
Hi All,I asked a similar question on the PP forum when I was considering an Aquanaut as my only PP. Well that happened and now I'm looking to add an AP RO possibly for my 40th birthday present to myself. Curious to see who has an RO as their only AP. The ROC and RO dual time are also in consideration, but I'm leaning towards the 15300st or 15400st with blue dial since it is an in-house movement. I have a 116520 and two GMT2s. At first I didn't consider the 15202st jumbo because I felt having the seconds hand a more practical purchase, but it is growing on me.
