If I have a Car and I modified the engine to run better/faster the modified engine is not goin to last long, now if I have a car with the Stock/unmodified engine the car is goin to last longer than the modified one. This is true for all mechanical machines a modified engine don't last long, but in the Watch world this is different, why??Here is an example Unitas 6497 a cheap pocket watch movement that is the base movement of the Panerai. But when Panerai install the movement In their watches the Unitas 6497 is super modified.....For me this sound like Ferrari got a Volkswagen engine modified the crap out of it and put on in a ferrari car.If you read this thread and shake your head, remember this is the Begginer forum we are allow to ask dumb questions
I know most 'normal' people buy watches, but that's boring! Trading goods for goods is the oldest sort of economic transaction, and I plan on keeping that alive!I haven't done much 'trading', but there is one watch I remember. When I was in elementary school there was a kid in a grade above me that had the most bada** watch ever, it was a batman quartz that glowed in the dark and would light up if you pressed a button on the side. I so wanted that thing you couldn't believe Eventually I worked out a deal with him, 4 moonpies. The school had outlawed selling 'junk food' in the cafeteria so I had to smuggle them in. We did the deal and I was the proud owner of the most awesome watch a 6 (7?) year old had ever seen.Of course, a few weeks later it failed it's trial by water, oh well.So what are some of your stories? And what are the most popular things traded for watches? Gold? Silver? Antiques?
Wanting one Since 1990. I am happy to finally say INCOMING in this particular forumShouldn't be difficult to predictExciting because I'm not sure when to expect it, as soon as tomorrow or as late as monday, I kind of like the tension of the surprise
