Panerai PAM00048 The Related Reviews:
- This is the first watch I have owned. I have relatively wrists and I worried it might be too large. It isn't. The blue face is very easy to read because the hands contrast, and the face color is deep enough so that it still looks fine with suits and business attire.

There was a time when watchmaking was an important and very large business here in America. These factories were tremendous and they employed thousands of skilled and non-skilled workers. I was stunned by just how big and ornate some of them actually were when I saw them, so I thought I would post a few pics of them here. Feel free to add to these if you can - The first is the Waltham plant - This is the Elgin factory - And the sad remains of one of the two old Benrus plants - I'm not sure, but I don't think the Swiss factories are or were anywhere near the size of these. Is that true?
I've decided crown guards - except on a tool watch - are more about fashion than protecting your timepiece. They help give visual interest to designs.I've never had an issue bashing a crown. What's your view?
I'm looking to buy a 5035 model Annual Calendar (White or Cream dial in Yellow Gold).Ideally (like everyone) I'd like to get a mint condition watch w/ box, papers & service history for the minimum possible price (going rate retail seems to be just over $20k USD - so you know, less than that :) ).Apart from having a running search on chrono24 and waiting for a trusted seller to put one up looking for a quick sale, what are the best forums / sites to keep an eye on for a 'good buy'?I'm sure someone would suggest auction, so I'd be interested in knowing how people who do buy watches at auction manage the risk - how do you know you're not getting a lemon?(Being that I'm in Australia (where there are about 5 PP dealers nationwide), popping down to the local Prestige watch auction-house isn't exactly an option)Finally, does anyone have a feel for what these are worth when you find someone who wants a quick sale? (eg. what price would you expect to get from your local watch trader?)Thanks
