While its function can seem complex, it can be better understood through a simple experiment: imagine you have a coiled spring in your hand. Compress it with your other hand and quickly release it. Hi , I am total newbie here. To start, I was just thinking of buying a new watch in $500 range and decided to stop by and chat with a local watchmaker here in Vancouver, Canada. After conversation got going, he asked me if I would be interested in a couple of vintage Omega watches he was selling personally. I know nothing about vintage Omegas and would really appreciate any advice, value suggestions, or any other helpful information. Here is what he is offering:1) Omega Geneve automatic with date, circa ?68-?69. Caliber 565, 24 jewels, serial #28XXXXXX, case #166.041 He will replace crystal since the one right now is not the right one, he will put new crown, one year warranty, no bracelet, he is asking around CAD$550.2) Omega Seamaster automatic with date, circa ?56-?57. Orbita Deluxe Mahogany!!! WOW!!!
Yesterday, Fed Ex brought a box. This isn't just any box - it's made of some of the most beautiful mahogany I've ever seen, with a perfect glossy finish that brings out every bit of beauty and chatoyance of the wood. If that wasn't enough, inside is a watch winder. It is an Orbita Deluxe Mahogany. Some companies throw around words like deluxe, but when Orbita says it, you can believe it. I would expect a box of this quality wood to sell for the same price if it DIDN'T have a winder inside. WOW, WOW and WOW. My hat is off to Kevin and the woman whose name I feel bad that I can't remember, but was extremely pleasant and helpful. Photos will follow.
