This weekend is the annual Watch City (Waltham MA) Steampunk Festival. Here are some photosa few with clocks and watches. I saw one display where the artist took out the innards of a watch and replaced it with dead bugs, moths, etc. They were pretty cool looking but she did not grant me permission to photograph them as folks tend to do this and then steal ideas. I know it was wrong, but what to do?
Recently I was commision to watch over my parents home and affairs while they are gone and I betrayed that trust...I don't believe in excuses but here's mine anyways...A few years ago my grandfather passed away at 98 and he had several watches, pocket and wrist that everyone said I should have. I mentioned it several times, and my folks said sure "they are yours, but we don't know where they are right now"...my father also said he has an old divers watch for me that he wore in the Navy during the Vietnam War...so to make a long story short I went snooping the other day and found a treasure trove of old pocket watches, wrist watches and general watch stuff...that included 2 Waltham, 2 Elgin, and 2 or 3 Hamiltons, and a Bulova Space View in perfect condition all languishing in various shoe boxes in storage.So what's should I do?I feel bad for snooping through storage, but it's been bugging me for years since I'm the only one who wanted them and at the time didn't push the subject. ...and know nothing about them. They come from a jeweler and are sitting in his drawer for refurbishment. Omega Seamaster Quartz late 1970s - Plz Help.
Hello everyone,I bought this watch some time ago because i liked the strap and had never seen a seamaster with a silver dial/bezel before. I believe there were two similar models available at the time, the other in a two tone with gold face, bezel and strap. The watch was going fine until the battery ran out, or so I thought.I took the watch to a really decent watchmaker who has always been more than helpful. He said they didn't make the actual batteries anymore because of some complication with the battery content but was able to fit another with some sort of cushion to allow it to fit properly. He tried this but said the battery was not at fault, the movement is gone. I really like the watch which I must admit I hardly even wore. Can anyone give me some advice on what to do. I have been told to maybe look for another 1342 watch for sale to replace the movement or should I just advertise it for spares/parts. If so, what would be a reasonable price, I don't think they even sell
