Rolex Datejust year??
Hello all,A friend of mine came to me trying to sell what I see as an ooold Datejust. It es a SS/gold model.. Model#1601, serial#2838825.. He is selling for $2500.. To me it sounds hi! Also I noticed it had a saphire crystal fitted odly, since I think it was originally Mica(Plexi).. Also the inside of the bracelete clasp it reads "stainless steel, Rolex, 14K trim, USA"..Can someone tell me a bit of history on this modelTipe of gold used, crystal type, date of manufacture, etc???Ed

New to the forum & the GMT Air Race
Hey everyone,I just wanted to say hello as I'm new to the forum having just picked up a Khaki GMT Air Race the other day.I hadn't really planned on acquiring that watch, but I found it at a local AD here in Chicago and he offered me an absolutely obscene deal which I just had to take.Anyway, mine came mounted on the black rubber strap, which I didn't think I'd like but is definitely growing on me. I also had him order the matching bracelet for me (which apparently has to come from Switzerland?).I do have a couple questions though...1. Does anyone have an Air Race mounted on a bracelet that can post a picture of the bracelet? I assume that it matches the brushed case, right?2. Also, I was debating picking up the orange leather strap for the watch as well. Anyone else have theirs on one? Did you have to get it through an AD?3. Finally, can some one recommend a spring bar tool so that I can swap out the bracelet for the strap on my own? I've never bothered to get one, b/c my other

A piece of family history
Hey everyone,Awhile back my dad reminded me he had a pocket watch that belonged to my great grandfather, so I told him to ship it to me. Well, it arrived today. Opened the box & took it out of the packing material. First, I can't convey the feeling I had when I first held it. I realized I'm holding 4 generations of my families history in my hands, passed down for over 100 years. It was quite a feeling.Second, I was amazed to find the watch is working. It's an Illinois pocket watch. My dad never used it. It's been sitting in a box in a drawer for probably the better part of 20+ years he's had it. I'm not sure yet how accurately it's running, but I wound it about 4 hours ago & set it to my atomic clock & it's running about 1-2 seconds off on those few hours. So I'll assume it's about 10-15 seconds off a day. Not bad considering.The condition is fairly good. The crystal is yellowed & scratched up, but probably nothing a good polishing cant help. The watch finis

Swapping bezels
Does anyone know if it is possible to swap bezels on the ROO 42mm?I can get the old vampire for a really good price but I really like the black ceramic bezel of the new one (but hate the strap). Just wanted to know if it was possible to get the ceramic bezel on it's own and swap them.
