Patek Philippe 5101P-001 wrist watches news:
All,For those of you familiar with my book " The Illinois Watch -The Life and Times of a Great American Watch Company" one if its most popular and unique features was the inserts throughout the book involving the "Fantastic Finds". I collected stories from dozens of collectors describing how they found Illinois watches in unusual places or uncovered great bargains or had interesting stories to tell about finding a watch. I would like to expand these "Fantastic Finds" to cover all American brands . Hence this request on the American Watch Forum. My goal is to collect them, edit them and submit the most interesting and entertaining ones for publication in the National Watch Association's Bulletin. I have written articles for the NAWCC Bulletin before that have been published (I have an article that will appear in the March 2012 Bulletin and I am currently working on another article involving a very special American wristwatch) and would aim to add the "Fantastic Finds" as a regular featu
My first post. I've enjoyed lurking and reading...now it's time for me to seek some help. There's a great picture of the winner of the watch photo contest at the top of the Japanese and Chinese forum page. It's a Seiko 5. I've searched and can't find a model number. Can someone help me out? It's a beautiful picture and a very interesting watch. Thanks,Van
I'm awaiting delivery of a 42mm BC3 with a stainless bracelet, white dial, and blue numbers and hands. While I wait, I would appreciate some "real" photos rather than the ones used in ads. Thanks!
Hi all-Curious to know if anyone has any details on the Breitling Navitimer World with an in-house movement.I assume that it's coming soon - if it hasn't already been announced.I'm sure it will carry a $10K+ price tag (ouch).Thanks.
One of my favorite Patek references is the 5124g Gondolo, however at $27.2k retail, and what they sell for pre-owned ($16-19k) it's not really a reference I would buy new. There is a used one listed by Govberg (Patek AD in Philly) on here listed as LNIB, but I was told a month or so ago by a sales associate that it has been polished and from 2008. I come from a purely Rolex collecting standpoint where polishing is highly undesired. Is that the same with Patek? Even if done by Stern I would be wary of polishing, especially on a case that is highly unique like this one. And is polished and from 2008 really LNIB?Link: .rolexforums/showthrea...ighlight=5124g
