Watches are unique collectables, and since the beginning of civilization man has held a fascination with time. The watch has become precious and sentimental to so many because it is one of the true personal companions of the individual day and night.Another factor that has made watches unique collectibles is the inticate artisanship with which they are put to-gether.Many watches of yesteryear, which were assembled with extreme accuracy and fine workmanship, continue to be reliable timepieces today. They 'stand out' as unique because that type of watch is no longer manufactured.A well made watch is a tribute to man's skills, artisanship, and craftsmanship at their finest levels. That is why, the watch holds a special place in the collectible field
New arrival just in time for my daughter's weddingLast Friday, the day before by daughter's wedding, I had the opportunity to buy a new IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar for this very special occasion in my family. I had been expecting to get a WG Perpetual Calendar, but this RG one became available at my AD and I jumped on it to wear to the wedding and the reception. I am so happy with the two new additions to my family. My new son-in-law and my new IWC.This is a quick couple of shots of this beauty. More photos will follow as I get the professional shots from the wedding. The Perpetual Calendar is a very special watch. All functions are controlled from the crown and it will only miss one moon phase in the next 577.5 years, not that I or my great-great-great grandchildren will know. The watch has many complications: day, date, month, four-digit year display, and the moon phases as well as a power reserve display and small seconds hand. This watch has a 7 day power reserve. It utilizes
Just picked up a Tudor North Flag.Have read the manual and can see no reference to NOT changing the date between 9:00pm and 3:00am like some ETA movements.Does anyone know if, as it is powered by a new Tudor movement, that the date can be changed at any time like my Rolexes?
I had a deposit at my local AD for the BLNR for a few months. While on a long drive today I called a few small dealers on my route. One of them said they just got a BLNR in that day and it was available. I was no more than 20 minutes away when I called. Obviously I got a refund on my deposit. Am I the Luckiest guy ever?
