Picked up a Lord Elgin, case 7683
I've actually had it for about a month, but when I got it I assumed the case back was a generic replacement and my enthusiasm for it quickly waned, plus, I was having difficulty getting it off.Last week I finally managed to pop it off and low and behold, Cased and Time by Elgin was stamped on the inside. The case is 7683. With my interest in it reignited, I ordered a new crystal to replace the cracked on that came with it.What is interesting about the case is that the movement fits snugly into the back and then the back snaps/fits inside the front of the case. In fact, I saw the Elgin version of this watch on eBay the other day, and it had a stainless steel back, that like mine, fits inside the front of the case. The case is 14k gold filled and the movement is the 23 jewel 750 caliber adjusted to 6 positions.The case is in great shape, with no brassing. There is wear from the metal bracelet it came with inside the lugs, thus I put it on a Kelaran lizard band to stop any future d

I promised pictures of the watches in question so here they are. The watch that is 3rd on my list (option B in the original thread) is a gold IWC to replace the ss one I sold last year. It was down to these two:Both are from the 60's, and the grey dial is supposedly from 1966 which is the year I was born. They're both in excellent shape. The grey dial is much less common, and the case & lugs have very crisp edges. The silver/white dialed model is a little rounded from polishing but the dial is in better shape but not by much. I have many watches with dials like the silver/white one and the grey dial is classic IWC with the rounded rivet head minute markers so I contacted the seller of the grey one. Anybody here owns 15300 and replaced it with 15400? Do you regret the decision?Just want to hear some opinion before I take the plunge :) I enjoy the 15300 very much but have a chance to get the blue 15400.
