Patek Philippe 5131J wrist watches news:
U.S. astronauts Lt. General Thomas Stafford and Vance Brand, and Russian cosmonauts General Alexsei Leonov and Valery Kubasov, joined Omega in New York City in a two-day celebration of the 35th anniversary of the historic Apollo-Soyuz Test Project mission, during which the astronauts and cosmonauts wore the Omega Speedmaster Professional. The Apollo-Soyuz Test Project flew in July, 1975 and marked a high-point for detente. It was the last Apollo mission and the first joint U.S.-Soviet mission. Engineering teams from both sides developed the docking module to link the two spacecraft, and it was there that Apollo commander Stafford (below right) and Soyuz-19 commander Leonov met and shook hands. The event was broadcast live on global television and it was captured 16mm film. The frame below became an iconic image symbolizing the dawn of a new age of superpower cooperation in space. In New York City, Lt. ....As some of you might remember, I have been asking ....( erbegging) for fellow WTF members in the bay area to come and visit me at one of the antique markets I do around here.....well, Timeliz and Boxcar ( Richard) turned up this last weekend and we had a ball...........we looked at all my watches, but as I had a particularly successful weekend, I had a much smaller showing than I would have had earlier in the year .....but we had fun looking ....and Liz herself was wearing a drop dead gorgeous curvex style Bulova, with applied gold numbers, and one of the cleanest sharpest dial I have ever seen .....a 30s watch I betcha ..........and I remember seeing Richards watch ....but don't remember it ....( ah the brain of an ADDer....big holes where you don't expect them ) .....anyway....as Liz and I are of a height, and Richard towered over both of us ....it was she and I who chatted at each other a mile a minute .....but all 3 of us are most assuredly WTF kind of folks ....watches watches
Interesting post by KevinC regarding watches that you weren't interested in, but then became more & more 'obsessed' with (sometimes culminating in purchasing said object of desire :)).Okay, how about the opposite? How many of you have seen pictures of watches (or on someone's wrist) that you fell in love with, or just HAD to have...? Only to finally try one on - and it JUST DIDN'T 'CLICK'? Whether it was too small, too big, too blingy, too boring, 'wrong' colour or whatever reason. What made it wrong for you?Example: The Rolex SeaDweller (not DSSD) has been one of my 'grails' for a long time. I finally got the chance to try one on recently andwell the hype just didn't live up to the reality (and by hype I mean self-induced hype). The best I could come up with was that it just looked too small on my wrist, even though I'm sure it's the same size as other watches I have. I did try on a GMT Master II and it felt/looked perfectbut that's a story for another thread I know the seadweller i
