Patek Philippe 4910/49G-001 wrist watches news:
While in college in the late 60's, I found this watch while walking across campus. I attempted to locate it's owner. But it was a large campus, and there were many visiting lecturers, so I ended up with it, and pretty much forgot about it until now. It's been sitting for over 40 years, until I recently rediscovered it in a drawer in my guest home. It's a Vulcain Cricket, and has a 14k stamp on the back. It appears to be in pretty good shape, and actually still runs. I have a small collection of vintage watches, so I'd like to keep it. I contacted the Vulcain Company in Switzerland, and they were less than enthusiastic.I guess I'd like to know the following if anyone could help:1. About how old is it? Approx when was it made?2. Appox value.3. If it is valuable, who should refurbish it? If I were to take it to someone other than the company, could they possible diminish it's value/appeal?I've attached photos.tia,bobg171

Can the black bezel insert be removed from the metal bezel ring...?I know Omega usually sells this as a unit -- but if the metal ring needed a minor repair, could the insert first be removed?
There has been lots written on this and other forums about Patek's current quality control problems and long service delays.Do you think those issues are to the point where it would be wise to avoid a Patek purchase?
What dial do you think is best on a Two tone Datejust 16233, White Stick or Silver Stick? Your thoughts are appreciated!
