A TOUR OF THE PATEK PHILIPPE MUSEUMIN GENEVA SWITZERLANDBy: John B. Holbrook, IIMay 5th, 2009
Off to Syracuse, for the weekend, for my son's return to college.
I am interested in acquiring a watch that is slightly modern in styling but not flashy. The product shown through the first below link, which is also available with a steel band shown in the second link, is almost exactly the sort of thing I am seeking. (The seller, Paul Stuart, is an outfitter known for selling classic mens clothing and accessories with creative twists.) However, as this is sold by and branded by a general outfitter, I a have doubts about its quality, and tend to think the value of the watch is much less than its retail price.paulstuart/product_in...8&MainCatId=14paulstuart/product_in...8&MainCatId=14Would the knowledgeable users of this forum kindly suggest a watch, made by a proper watchmaker, that fits the bill? I am not looking to spend more than $700, and even that would be slightly higher than I prefer.
Does anyone know the thickness of these two watches? And if anyone has a photo comparing the thickness of the two that would be outstanding!
Hi Guys -- I just thought I'd share the Rolex Date that was given to me. It was purchased new in 1988 by my aunt for my Uncle (have receipt). He died a few years ago and as she was preparing to move houses, she gave it to me as a gift. I personally love its family story and how it compliments my 1601 Datejust. Pics of both of them below. One question: I haven't had the chance to pull the lugs off -- can anyone advise me of the model number?
