My excursion this morning
I took a ride to see a retiring watchmaker, who my buddy told me about. Most of the items he had were a little to mildly interesting, but a few stood out. I couldn't resist this one:Forgive the reflections in the first shot. As soon as I get it back from my watchmaker I'm snapping some better shots. It's a late 60's to early 70's Constellation with the day/date calibre 751. The interior was perfect, and the exterior needs only a bit of cosmetic work. He wanted just a little more than he had into it after a complete service - I paid a mere $375 for it. Considering how much I've seen these models going for on-line, I'm a happy guy again. I'm worried that I'm going to lose my shirt soon because I know I can't keep getting this lucky. I snapped a few more pictures of some of the other pieces he had, but this one sums up the rest of the Omegas:I also saw a great Wittnauer that I'll post in the GD forum later.

Physical Activity and Automatics
So specially, the AT 8500...I pretty much wear it all the time because I LOVE IT.I run, bike, swim (well it is a seamaster), and do pretty much everything else with it strapped on. Anything I should know about? Recommend against it? Why? Or why it's okay?

How to Tell ETA Levels
I found this from EL's bossman at another site. Very informative:There is indeed a visual way to tell a basic movement apart from one of a higher level. It is usually the decoration. 2824s that come in the ¨¦labor¨¦, Top and Chronom¨¨tre versions have routinely factory decorated rotors and bridges. There are many different levels of decorations from the ETA-factory in what we call 'd¨¦corations traditionnels'. These three executions come all with a nickled and rhodium plated rotor and a goldplated balance wheel as base. The Standard version lacking these features.High level watch companies usually use at least the ¨¦labor¨¦ version most of them reverting to the Top execution.
