Traveling with the GMT-II
There was a thread a couple of weeks ago about whether and how we actually use some of the features of our Rolexes. With that question in mind, I thought I¡¯d offer some observations on a recent travel experience with my new GMT. We all know the GMT-Master IIc (116710 LN) is a good looker¡ªas is the rest of the GMT family. But a recent trip to Hawaii showed the watch to be surprisingly practical as well. The quick-set hour hand made it easy to set local time at the layover airport, avoiding complacency or panic when comparing watch time to the scheduled departure time. At the destination I set the hour hand to local time, leaving the 24 hour hand on east coast ¡°home¡± time with the bezel at neutral (triangle at 12 o¡¯clock). Playing with it, I saw how turning the bezel 3 clicks clockwise could reference California time on the 24-hr hand, or turning it 5 clicks counter-clockwise could reference Greenwich time, if for some reason it was important to keep track of those times. Hello to all:I have a beautiful 14 carat gold Longines watch with a gold face and 14 carat gold band that I have been trying to get some info on. It is a 17 jewel movement mechanical watch with the style FP5251-528 stamped inside along with the serial number 5332856. I will have my son post a picture later. After 30 years of dreaming .. I joined the club (5711R)
As promised ... here are the pics of my new 5711R... I literally feel like this will be my main watch now... I am afraid to scratch it but I will wear it often.Bought from an authorized dealer who took a trade on a AP RO Chrono and cash for the balance... no discount alas but I don't mind. I was lucky to find one as every dealer I called (and I called many) said no way and some even laughed..

Add SD43 or Redundant? Pics included
Thinking about adding an SD43 to this mix. Whatcha think. Too redundant? Would be paying a premium but not a crazy one. At this price a skydweller is pretty close as well. I'm more concerned with loss on resale as I cannot try any of these pieces on before I buy them, so i dont want to get waxed should i not like it and have to resell.Advice welcome, thanks
