It is rare for one man to design every component of a watch¡¯s case, dial and movement. Peter Speake-Marin’s new Thalassa is such a watch. The harmonious design incorporates Peter¡¯s trademark elements, and so is instantly recognizable as his. The blued©\steel of the outer dial, hands and seconds wheel create a nautical ambiance which inspired the name ¡°Thalassa¡±, a sea goddess from Greek mythology and the personification of the Mediterranean Sea. The case is Peter¡¯s iconic ¡°Piccadilly¡± design, rendered in 18K white gold. The basic shape was inspired by the cases used to house prototype movements Peter worked with early in his career. The name ¡°Piccadilly¡± honors the formative years Peter spent working in restoration at Somlo Antiques in Piccadilly, London. Why Vintage?
Hey guys, I am a modern Hammy fan and a amateur WIS. So I would love to hear why so many of you prefer and outright LOVE the vintage Hamiltons (take this as a learning trip for me). I'm smitten!
I have been ridiculously indecisive on a new silver dialed watch for my collection. I did make a decision last year that I wanted a power reserve meter since I don't own one yet. I thought it was down to these two:The GO PanoReserveGreat dial, and a big date to boot. However, it's a little bigger than I'd like in diameter & height and doesn't have any guilloch¨¦ pattern.The JLC Reserve de MarcheGreat size and nice case with a hint of vintage flavor. But the date subdial and the 12 & 9 kill the appearance for me. I think I found the winner today - a Zenith Elite Reserve de Marche.It has elements of the other two, and a nice guilloch¨¦. The size is the same as the JLC (37 mm) with a nearly identical case/lug shape. Even the crown is flatter so it doesn't dig into the back of your hand - a major pet peeve of mine that I've sold otherwise perfect watches over. Anybody Know About this Tritium Watch
Does anybody know about this watch? So far, it is the only watch i can find that meets my requirements.Requirements:- Tritium on all hour markers- Tritium on Hour, Minute, and Second Hands- SS or Titanium Case and strap- Rotating Bezel- Tritium on Bezel- Date- Water Resistant- Military Time- Around $400This watch looks awesome, except I can't find any info on PJS watches, where they are made, what kind of movement they have, or the quality of the product.
