Seiko SNKJ07 wrist watches news:
There is something special about a hand-finished, manually wound, in-house chronograph. It is a category that houses so many of the timepieces to which so many of us aspire to own – and today we will compare three of the very best available in the world today. This original HODINKEE Three On Three pits heavyweight contenders from A. Lange & Söhne, Vacheron Constantin, and Patek Philippe against one another in several categories: design, finishing, wearability, and collectibility. The thing about this comparison is, quite simply, there is no wrong choice – we purposefully selected the finest manually wound chronographs we could think of – all priced similarly – to be able to highlight each watch's strengths and weakness, of which there are many.Have a look at our video first and then read on for the details of these three incredible timepieces. A couple of weeks ago, the Russian president Dmitry Medvedev paid a visit to Switzerland in honour of his great fellow countryman General Alexander Suvorov. The Russian president was presented a dagger that had belonged to the Russian general when he crossed the Alps by the Swiss president. The two president had visited the world-famous Suvorov Monument in the Sch?llenen Gorge together. This monument commemorates the crossing of the Alps by the Russian generalissimo with his troops in September 1799. Indeed no mean feat back then. What struck me as odd was that the Russian president handed over a small coin to the Swiss president just prior to accepting the dagger.A few days ago I spoke to my good old friend Wendelin Niederberger. Wendelin is one of Europe's foremost experts on and teachers of Taoism. We were talking about the upcoming Christmas and about exchanging gifts. During our conversation, I also mentioned the handing over of the coin by the Russian president. And suddenly Wendel
I know that radium is radioactive for thousands of years as its half-life is around 1,600 years. I also know that radium is no longer used today, as this process stopped to a great deal by the 1960s. That said, how long should a typical 1920s radium watch dial and hands glow? While I have found no definitive answer, it seems questionable whether most "original" 1920s dials should still be glowing today, because the radium-226 (or 228) mixed with the zinc sulfide (salts) to display this glow should likely have all burned away to be point of being undiscernable by the human eye. Perhaps the sources I have read are simply incorrect or not specific enough?I own dozens of what I consider to be original radium dials, and while they are indeed radioactive, I am unable to see any glow, even in the middle of night. (Again, I am not talking about moderm luminous paints that glow for a few minutes after exposure to light, OR about modern glass-tubed tritium watches.) However, others whose
Hi guys, a new comer to the Patek world, I really enjoy the design and fit of the Patek watches. As some might know, I am currently wearing a 5167A as my daily beater. And I also have a 5235G just arrived 2 days ago. Next week, I am expecting to receive my long waited 5712/1A. I originally plan to acquire 5726/1A or 5726A then 5980R from AD (depending on availability). But after having 3 PPs in 4 months. I started wondering if I do want more than 2 Nautilus (I will have a 5711/1A coming early next yr). Should I widen my scope to have some traditional styles? I currently have AP 15202ST, PP 5130P, 5270G (BLK), 5960/1A and 5524G in mind. I probably will not consider buy a GC watch in the very near future. Your advices are well appreciated.
