Help with Elgin Shockmaster Repair and dating.
Hello, I am very new to the world of vintage watches and recently purchased an Elgin Shockmaster Automatic but the winding rotor is not attached and appears to be broken at the attachment point. I have tried researching on how to rotor is attached but all I find is pictures and it looks like its just sitting on a shaft with no screw. I would love to repair this watch myself which is the reason I spent so little on a "project" So any tips would be great. I will attach a few pics for reference.Edit: Also any help on identifying the age would be greatful. The serial number on the case back is u790325, which states the watch is from 1947 but from what I read Elgin started using swiss movements later in the 50s so any help is appreciated.

Words cannot describe the beauty of this watch. I'm still pinching myself and picking up my jaw from the floor everytime I look at it.I am still stoked and have the major butterflies after picking this up. I didn't imagine I would actually go through with it but I did. Walked into the local AD and after I saw it...BAM...It was love at first sight and then said to myself...Dam, shouldn't have come in here LOL.Did I mention I'm still picking up my jaw from the floor.....Enjoy the eye candy cause there is ALOT of it below :)

Speedmaster Chronograph
I've just been to a local AD looking at Speedmasters and Seamasters.A very helpful assistant came along and we got talking.After some mooching around he offered me a Speedmaster Chronograph (which I presume wasn't a Professional as it wasn't mentioned on the dial) for the discounted (10%) price of ��1890.It's 38mm I believe (or maybe 40mm ?) and has a tachymetre and on the case back it says that it's ok to 100m/330ft.It has the 2500 (Valjoux 7750) movement and yes, it is a bit noisy I thought for a first try that wasn't too bad a price. Could somebody enlighten me further?Also what differences are there between that and the 300m/600m ones? (Apart from the depth!)Am I missing anything major? I'm new to Omega's.They had the newer ceramic Seamasters which are a little bit chunky. I am interested in picking up a 116710BLNR, and was wondering if you guys thought now is a good time to buy. I realize Baselworld is coming up shortly, and there��s a possibility Rolex may update the movements in their sports watches. I think it��s unlikely, but Rolex could also discontinue the batman if they release the coke GMT. Do you think the future of the value of the GMT Batman will be affected if it has the old movement?
