Seiko SUR031 wrist watches news:
I purchased this historic Americian beauty on the swamp about 3 months ago. It's an Elgin Americian made automatic with a 618 bumper movement:According to the Elgin on-line database, it's from around 1951 and I think is one of the first automatic movments made in the US.Althought the dial is a little "plain Jane", I love the "parchment" tone patina of the dial and the "ribbed" sides on the case.It runs great and keeps accurate time. But best of all, it gives a little jolt when you move your wrist and the bumper rotor hits one of the spring stops and rebounds in the opposite direction. I love that! Mark S.
There's no mistaking the Clerc CXX Scuba is an actual workman's watch designed to meet a demanding marine environment - but calling it a tool is akin to calling the Space Shuttle a plane.Where Rolex Subs, Omega Seamasters, Invicta Pro Divers and Seikos dive watches are rugged and gruff, the Clerc is a strong, silent Gary Cooper - dressed in black tail and tie. You know behind the gentleman's facade the CXX can take - and dish out - punishment. This is a solid, chunky cube of stainless steel. Big - about 42 mm and as thick as a typical VJ 7750-powered chrono (somewhere around 12 mm I'd guess) - but not over-powering. It commands more wrist area than a Rolex diver and less than an Omega or the new line of Invicta Swiss-powered divers most of us are familiar with. It's heavier than the Rolex and the Omega, but lighter than the Invicta Reserve Pro Diver. It's also smaller and lighter than the Seiko 6R15 (Sumo) diver that graces my collection. As with all Clercs, what sets this watch apart f

Being bored tonight and with all this talk of "bling" etc. I decided to weigh a few of my watches to get and give an idea of why I like wearing G-Shocks...they are light in comparison to my autos I commonly wear. The scale tops out at 225 grams...needless to say you'll see the heavy weight, it caused an error. All of the bracelets reflect the loss of links to fit my wrist (3 in the case of the Breitlings and Omegas), but I suppose I could have dug out the boxes and extra links too, but I'm too lazy. So for your amusement:1:Longines Hydro - chrono2:Breitling S.O. I like the vintage 1960s Omega Seamasters with domed (pie plate?) crystals.Anyone know where to get them in the NYC area? Do the trusted sellers on this site sell them?Of course, if anyone wants to post a picture of their vintage Omega, I have no objection.
