Stowa Wants You To Design Their Next Watch
I'm sure we've all at one point dreamt of designing and manufacturing our very own watch. I know I have a few scribbles and sketches stashed away somewhere in my apartment. But for most of us, the thought of having to deal with suppliers and manufacturers is often enough to keep us just dreaming.Now Stowa, one of our favorite German watchmakers, is about to simplify the entire process with a design contest open to the public, with the winning submission to be realized by the brand. The contest, in collaboration with Watchtime, launched on July 17th and will be open for submissions until the 30th. By mid August, the 10 most popular designs will be put up for a vote on Watchtime.net, with the winning design to be sold through Watchtime.net's online shop. The winner will receive the watch for free, valued at around EUR 1,000. In touch with a grail and I fail
Just today as I was minding my own beeswax I stumble into what is one of my real grail watches. And, I can (somewhat) afford it. I mean, I don't mind spending $2000 a year on watch-related krap. And I'm getting ready to do it again with my up-coming trip to NYC. Now, when I use the term 'grail' I mean something that I would love to have and could maybe even afford - but I probably won't put out that sort of money - even if I had it. Sure, there are a ton of watches in the $30,000 +++ category that I wouldn't mind wearing. But I wouldn't buy them even if I could. I mean, I've got other things I like, too.Now, if I spend more than $2000 ON A WATCH, I not only start to feel guilt, I also will get 'heat' from the little lady. She has no such obsessions. Oh, she wouldn't prevent it; we don't have that sort of relationship. But she wouldn't 'dig' it. It means piling up bills on the card, and we just cleaned the cards up. Incoming......or not!
My friendly AD delivered me a Novelty Rose Gold which I wasn't quite ready for as I have had a few other incomings recently. I have owned one before (albeit not the newer 26401 version), and of course it is a fabulous watch. Still all stickered up etc..Should I keep it or sell it? Anyone want it if the latter?
