Seiko SNF672 wrist watches news:
I have a GMT cal.1128 that is 14 months old and has started to loose 6-7 seconds a day. I'd like to send it to get it regulated (recommendations on where appreciated) but it occured to me to regulate it myself. My understanding is that one notch on the regulating screw is 5 seconds. What do you think, DIY or get it checked out?
Hey all, I have this watch in my family for over 50 years and nobody knows what model it is. Can you help me? Can I still buy such a watch and what price range it could be?Thanks a lot!1.jpg5.jpg6.jpg7.jpg
A watch is an intricate machine. For any machine to function it must be supplied with energy. A mechanical watch is "fueled" by it's wearer, either by manual winding or with the motion of your wrist depending on the type of movement. The force of these actions is retained in the mainspring. The mainspring is attached to the barrel (case) it sits in on one end and hooked to the arbor (a shaft through the center of the barrel) at the other end. basic barrel configuration with arbor in the center and cutaway to show the mainspring:The mainspring coils tightly around the arbor when wound thereby storing energy. It is always trying to unwind itself to relieve tension. This causes the barrel to rotate around the arbor. The outside edge of the barrel has serrated teeth which mesh with the center pinion. This motion drives the pinion which is attached to the first wheel of the gear train. wheel train assembly:The wheel train consists of several different gears and pinions that are designed to
Been taking stock of the collection, deciding what stays and what potentially goes - and had to pause when I pulled this one out:Man, I still dig this watch! Plenty of new arrivals have superceded it as "flavor of the month", several pieces have more prestigious names, and I wear almost every other watch in my collection more.but this Conquest is the crown jewel of my Longines group and simply the best looking vintage watch I've ever, and maybe will ever, own. So what's your all-time favorite of your collection?
Went to my local AD today to see the Blusey in person. Unfortunately they just sold it a couple days earlier but I was presently surprised at how much inventory they had. Submariner with and without date, black GMT, Air-King. They¡¯d just gotten in a steel Daytona but that was long gone, as well as a Sea-Dweller.As usual I went to see one watch and was blown away by another. The TT Daytona and the DSSD were amazing in person. Here¡¯s some pics!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
