This week thanks to Montblanc North America, we had two pretty spectacular timepieces from the very highest end of the Montblanc horological ecosystem in the office. On Monday, we went hands on with the Montblanc Collection Villeret Tourbillon Cylindrique Geosphères Vasco da Gama, with its combination of a very artistically done world time/GMT function and a very large, 18,000 vph tourbillon with a cylindrical hairspring, and we talked about the relationship between navigation at sea, the marine chronometer, and the development and purpose of the cyclindrical hairspring. Decided on an AP 15400 and can't decide between the black or silver dial. Have seen the silver and like it. Haven't seen the black. I know it's personal preference but what do you guys think? I like the reflective properties of the silver. Does the black also reflect the light well, is it a dull black or more of a gloss black. Thanks, Sam

DD2 vs DD40
When it comes to Rolex watches I¡¯ve always been drawn more towards the professional sports models as opposed to the day date.One of the reasons why I really liked the DD 2 was because it looked more like like a dressy but still sports watch. I think the reason was because of the particular design and dimensions of the case¡­ That made it look sporty¡­ But with the day date 40¡­ That doesn¡¯t look sporty¡­ That lookslike a dress watch.That was one of the reasons why they discontinued the DD2 and replaced with DD40 Because people didn¡¯t like the dimensions of the DD2 when compared to DD36?I was just wondering what everybody preferred in terms of a DD40 vs DD2 and Why?
