Seiko SGEF59 wrist watches news:
This past April/May I had the opportunity to attend Baselworld as part of my role as a Contributing Editor for watches-dealer. I have been writing about watches for a little over six years, and while that may not seem all that long to some of the field's more seasoned writers, it took that long to attend my first Baselworld. Like many, I grew up attending air and auto shows with my Dad and brothers, so when I first learned of Baselworld, I added it to a list of very far off goals as until recently writing about watches was a mere hobby. I had seen photos and read the reports that follow each year's show, but little could prepare me for the scale, the crowds in attendance, and the general watchnerdery of it all. In short, with the right pair of shoes, an empty wrist and a press pass, Baselworld is heaven for a watch lover. This year, aBlgotoWatch had a team attending the show, including veteran show goer Ariel, deputy Mark C, and yours truly. While Ariel has covered BW in the past, we fi
So I am wearing my Grand Seiko automatic today . . . and a question occurs to me.Why does the dial have English words like "Grand" and "Automatic" printed on it? I always understood that these watches are only marketed in Japan (and maybe some other Asian markets?) but never intended to be sold in the USA or Europe. So why do they use English words instead of Japanese words. In fact, why even use English / Latin alphabet unstead of Kanji or Katakana?Anyone have any insight into this?TIA!
I just bought this watch today, got a great discount and pulled the trigger. It's a nice addition to my small collection and is now family with a couple of Rolexes (GMTIIc & Explorer II) and a Cartier Santos. It feels very comfortable on the wirst and I love the fact that it doesn't draw much attention to itself (and me...)I have a winder but I'm not sure the right setting for it, was thinking 650tpd both cw and ccw, is this right? Or do I need 800tpd?
There are too many Swiss watches to choose from, (and on a limited budget). I have been looking through and have come down to a couple of very reasonably priced watch Brands and had a few questions. One of which what is the major difference between Swiss Army And Swiss Military Watches? Is Wenger part of the Victorinox family? And in opinion which is the better buy?
I put my running Hamilton Khaki Navy on my new winder, and within about a day and a half it stopped running, although the winder was still on. Should a watch be fully wound when put on a winder, and if so, how long should you expect the winder to keep a watch running?Sorry for not putting this in the winder forum, but I posted a couple questions there and didn't get much in the way of replies...Thanks!
