The Museum of Arts and Design unveiled Object Factory: The Art of Industrial Ceramics, an exhibition documenting contemporary innovation in industrial ceramic production and the renaissance of ceramics in art and design. On view from May 6 through September 13, 2009, Object Factory examines unexpected uses of ceramics as time keeping instruments, kitchen appliances, knives and even digital electronics, all made possible by new technologies. The Grande Seconde Ceramique, which combines a ceramic case with an enamel dial, is the only timepiece in the exhibition. ¡°The limitless potential of ceramics¡ªa medium that has been in use for millennia¡ªis underscored by its use in such innovative ways as the housing of watches like the Grande Second Ceramique created by the renowned Jaquet Droz Manufacture. Hello, I've recently been considering making my first luxury watch purchase, an Omega Planet Ocean. I spent some time at a local AD handling the Planet Ocean, Speedmaster Day Date, Submariner, and GMT Master II Ceramic. I fell in love with the Planet Ocean and GMT Master II, but liked the more 'conservative' look of the Planet Ocean. I liked the Submariner (who doesn't?) but wasn't impressed with the clasp mechanism. I felt the clasp on the Planet Ocean was nicer.Anyways, I've seen a lot of different numbers thrown around for the pricing of this watch. I was quoted $3,000 at my AD, however I'm unsure if that included a discount. Is that what I can expect to pay or should I look at other AD's before buying? For reference, this is the exact model I plan on purchasing: .omegawatches/index.ph...000&no_cache=1
This is inspired by the your Rolex and your profession thread. Now I'm from England where we call it university and you only do one subject but I understand the Americans amongst you minor and major in things etc.Personally I'm in my first semester at college and also trying to run a business. My degree is in accounting. I will be getting a Subc or Explorer II as soon as I save my last ¡ê500 or so. I currently have a Breitling and a JLC Reverso. So did you go to college ? If so what is your degree subject ? and obviously which Rolex/Rolex's do you own ?
