A. Lange & Söhne has released a new addition to the classic Saxonia line – the Saxonia Moon Phase. This watch perfectly combines three of Lange’s strengths – the outsized date, moon-phase precision, and clean dial layout. This a wonderful new entry-level-for-Lange addition. 1 OF 3 The new Saxonia Moon Phase features the L086.5 automatic movement which is a similar movement (with added moon phase complication) to the L086.1 used in the Saxonia Automatic. The watch comes in both white gold and pink gold 40 mm case, which is larger than the standard Saxonia model (they range from 37 to 39 mm). The silvered dial features the outsized twin aperture date, which has been in use since 1994 and is a brand staple. Picked this up on eBay about a month ago. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the case back, the movement is spotless. It keeps very good time as well. As if the radium burn wasn't evidence enough, the condition of the movement makes me think this one resided in a drawer somewhere for a few decades!

It got here within the hour and I'm absolutely thrilled. Delivery took about three months (ordered 3/7) and in the meantime, prices increased and exchange rates moved in my favor (could it get any better?). The packaging is impressive, but the watch is just gorgeous, particularly the movement. I upgraded from the elabore to the top and am impressed. I couldn't be happier with this. It's my second mechanical watch, after my Lum-Tec B13.
